"How can I get rid of my belly fat?"
Asked By: moondoggie
Category: Exercise

Background Info Hide
I am a 47 year old female and a type 2 diabetic for the past 4 years now. I also have had a kidney transplant in 1998 and heart and artery problems. I used to be very active, but in the past year my health has really slowed me down to the point of being a "couch potato", which I know is not healthy.

Dear Moondoggie- The best thing I can tell you is to get moving to the best of your ability. It is all about using more energy than you take in. Once you have a physician's permission try to start with 5 minute increments of exercise. At the end of every 30 minute TV show you watch, take a walk up and down your hallway. At every TV commercial lift soup cans. Each week increase your time by 5 minutes total each week. You will slowly begin to condition and train your heart and lungs and find that you will start getting into sharp. Even sitting on the couch you can do arm and leg exercises.

Ideally the best form of exercise is walking. So whenever you are out park the farthest, walk extra whatever it takes to move a little more, All the sit ups in the world won't work unless you rev up your metabolism.

I'd say walking is the easiest exercise there is right now. are your feet and legs good to go? promise yourself a small reward, like a new dress or an outfit. You don't have to spend a lot. good- will has many nice things. I like new shoes. Payless has great prices.New sneakers or walking shoes might be a good start, to cushion and support your foot and leg muscles. I guess I'm answering my own questions that I had about exercise. I know, the more you walk, the more you want to. at least it seems that way for me. Try it---- if you don't live in phx. it may be cool enough for you to walk dayly. In Phx. , I plan to wak with my umbrella for shade. Night walks may be too risky. Good luck with it.
