There are many varieties of sodium substitutes. Some products contain potassium chloride as "substitute" or in place of the sodium chloride (which we know as table salt). There are people who cannot tolerate potassium and must avoid this product.
I recommend that you first check with your doctor to determine if there are any restrictions on potassium or other ingredients before purchasing a salt substitute.
Most people can use some herb and spice blends, such as Mrs. Dash or comparable products. These products do not contain any added sodium or potassium.
