You have listed 2 different concerns. The mass on your leg - that showed a lipoma on the CT - if this is enlarging or the pain is increasing, you should see your physician for further evaluation. The urinary symptoms you described may be an infection - you need to see your physician as soon as possible to have this evaluated. Infections can affect blood sugar control. Untreated bladder infections can also affect the kidneys. You always want to protect your kidneys with good blood sugar control, good blood pressure control and preventing infections. Stress also affects your blood sugar levels and your immune system. See your physician so you can stop the "worry and what if's". Thanks for asking your questions and stay proactive in controlling your diabetes.

Dear Melody29:
The bladder symptoms you describe, seem to me, consistent with an infection along this urinary tract, resulting in the frequent urges and scant urine, suggesting an appt. with your PCP for evaluation and treatment.

Considering, all the symptoms you mention, the best approach at this time is to get back to the basics.

  • As to eliminate any potential risk from irregular blood glucose excursions: A regimen of small frequent meals, blood glucose levels never to exceed 140mg/dl, primarily the 1-2 hours after eating will help to rule out complications from diabetes. If it is an infection, (UTI), the glucose levels may be going too high and the resulting pain from the neuropathy is due to the tsunami wave of sugar to the system.

'I'm sorry to hear of the diagnosis. of a lymphoma, a cancer that begins in the lymphocytes of the immune system and presents as a solid tumor of lymphoid cells, and the pain that results. This form of lymphoma often originates like balls in lymph nodes, presenting as an enlargement of the node (a tumor). The malignant T cells in the body are pushed to the surface of the skin in a biological process used to rid the body of offending material, causing various lesions to appear on the skin. These lesions change shape as the disease progresses, typically beginning as what appears to be a rash and eventually forming plaques and tumors. This is a frightening diagnosis, and your feelings are appropriate in this situation. And I'm certain you are following closely with medical supervision and treatment. ABC's of diabetes:

  • A1C<7%,
  • Blood pressure<130/80
  • Tchol<200
  • HDL>50
  • LDL<100mg/dl. Regards Sue
