Currently, it will ben reccommended for most high risk patients, which includes patients with diabetes. Most experts I've spoken with have said that this vaccine should be no more problematic than the current regular flu shot. Some patients have adverse reactions to such a vaccine, but most do just fine. Because there are no long term studies yet benefist vs. risk has to evaluated by your health care team. Certainly a bad bout of the flu can be more dangerous in a patient with diabetes. I feel most high risk patients will get vaccinated eventually, and hopefully an epidemic can be avoided.
