Received message from my doctor telling me I was pre-diabetic and if the next 12 hour fasting results was not improved that I would be put on medication. People tell me not to think about the things I can no longer do but what I can still do. Due to the array of medical problems I have, have not found anything that I can do. If I can take care of my dog and myself (light housework, showers, clean up the kitchen, fix my meals and take my dog for a 25 to 30 minite walk, do my wash, go to necessary appointments, etc., my get up and go has got up and left). Can't stand or sit for too long; even walking my dog has not built up my stamina. The quality of life is more important to me than the quantity of life. I have a hard time understanding what keeps these people going. Due to my various ailments, can't stand and/or sit too long, can't dance, bowl, walk very much. Received email results a few days ago (have not heard from the doctor as yet. Have you any encouraging words??

I understand your frustration, but living with pre-diabetes means trying to live a healthy lifestyle. That would be perhaps a change in diet to less carbs and simple sugars and more lean meats and vegetables. As far as exercise, even those whose motion is limited can find something they enjoy that involves some movement. You will be able to do fine as long as you follow your doctors' advisement.

I was just diagnosed as type 2 in April. I already had emphysema/chronic bronchitis/bronchiectasis. Also, ulcerative colitis, psoriasis and severe scoliosis. With the emphysema robbing me of lung power, I'm not able to get much done or get around very well. Meds for all this puts me in the Medicare prescription gap in June so I have to pay full price for all my expensive meds myself for the rest of the year. I have to say, attitude is everything. I can be blue and look at all my problems or I can focus on what I can do and the good things in my life and leave the rest to God. I choose to focus on the good. One of my favorite quotes is "I may not have control over what happens to me but I have total control over how I respond to it." Good luck and I hope things will begin looking up for you.
