"I have PCOS and was on Metformin briefly for infertility. I still feel awful but never test diabetic although I have many symptoms. What should I do?"
Asked By: try2befit

Background Info Hide
I am gaining weight, I am losing my energy, I could drink about 16-20 oz. of Apple Juice before I go to bed at night (I have excessive thirst and cravings for sweets) more than ever before at night. Everytime I test for diabetes in blood fastings - I never turn up diabetic. Of Course I haven't been tested in about 5 years now. I recently have started exercising (last two weeks) and now I'm more tired than ever - I just don't know what to do anymore. I am focusing on diabetic recipes to try and improve my diet too - just to see if that focus would help.

Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Women who suffer from PCOS tend to have insulin resistance. It appears that you might be experiencing symptoms of diabetes.

Since it was 5 years ago since you were tested for diabetes, it is time for you to get re-tested for diabetes. The frequent and excessive thirst and cravings tells me that you need to see your doctor right away.

It's good that you are exercising regularly and focusing on more healthful eating. They are not substitutes for accurate diagnosis.

Don't delay! An accurate diagnosis is needed so that you receive can proper treatment and soon.

Take care.
