"I stood up, room filled with people, my ears started buzzing & ringing and I sweated profusely, heart was fluttering, I was spinning & felt I was dyin"

Category: Prediabetes

Background Info Hide
I had vertigo for 2 years and at that time I would out of the blue have these other symtoms in front of friends whom would call an ambulance to take me to the emergency room. Doctor told me I had low blood pressure, low potassium, and low blood sugar. She stated I should take potassium pills everyday or eat bananas everyday. They gave me antivert, also. Finally after about 18 months and after 7 serious attacks were I thought I was litterally dying passing out another doctor gave me a high antihystimine, mezzaclyene (mispelled) and it worked and got rid of the vertigo 6 months ago. Now recently I had a very bad attack were I felt I was free falling, spinning, sweating, felt my heart fluttering, and thought I was coming out of my body as I saw the dark cloud engulfing me and everyone talking sounded very distant. All I could mumble was give me a banana and pepsi as my friends in a restaurant sat me down and for 2 1/2 hours with my eyes closed I focused on staying still holding my head

Since this is under the category pre-diabetes and you are not on diabetes medication then I can assume that your episodes are not caused by medication induced hypoglycemia. Sometimes in pre-diabetes a person can suffer from hypoglycemia especially if they aren't eating well balanced meals. However, it is unusual for the low blood sugar in pre-diabetes to induce the severity of symptoms which you describe. Since you report that these episodes occur upon standing I think I can assume that you are experiencing orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure) or maybe an inner ear problem. I urge you to discuss this issue with your physician again so that you can be properly evaluated.
