You don't say whether those Blood sugars are fasting or after meals or what medications you take - but those numbers are normal!! If you start having blood sugars 70 or less with symptoms, then you need to notify your Dr. The best time to check blood sugars are fasting in the morning before you eat or drink anything and 2 hours after meals. Keep good written records to share w/ your Dr at appointment. You noted low carb diet - be sure you are eating adequate Carbs - no less than 30-45 per meal. Right now what you are doing is working - good job!

Have you heard of the old adage that a broken watch is right twice a day? With a single BG measurement per day, who knows what it means? Similarly there's no way for anyone to know what you are eating, or your activity level. If those were the lowest levels of the day, you wouldn't need to worry about hypoglycemia, but again, with a single daily reading no one knows. Even if that were the case, your peaks during the day and your daily averages could be excessively high. Until you have a handle on managing your condition, at a minimum I'd suggest you meter prior to every meal and at bedtime, and keep a log of what and how much you eat and exercise. Only with that kind of data will you be able to get expert guidance. My short answer is - see a diabetes educator.

Since a normal blood sugar is 85 according to some diabetic experts who actually have diabetes, I'd say that's pretty darn perfect. My target is 85 - before eating, during meals and after meals. I take insulin and don't leave anything >100 unattended. Good luck and feel well George - which you will do in the 80's! Doris J. Dickson
