The American Heart Association recommends a blood pressure of 120/80 - this is especially important with diabetes as heart disease is the number 1 complication. Your BP is obviously not well controlled. If you are not on medication, you need to be, if you are - it needs adjusted. Your doctor may not be concerned but you sure should be! If he is not willing to work with you to get better control, I would strongly recommend finding a new doctor who is. This is your diabetes and your health - be proactive in getting the care and control that you need to prevent complications. Things you can do to help are follow your meal plan, limit salt intake, lose weight if necessary, walk or some other activity daily, stop smoking if you are a smoker. Do not ignore your blood pressure just because you may feel ok. It is still not at a safe level. Take action now. You are right to be concerned.
