he has gone from 196 to 173 lbs. always hungry and thirsty. arms and legs are showing signs of getting very thin. sleeps only aroung 5 hours a night, does physical work daily. doesn't eat properly, will sit down with candy and eat the whole bag. three months ago at the doctors he wouldn't tell him about this. and told me not to. eye doctor gave him a grid scale. why? how come he hasn't ended up with complications that would put him in the emergency room? I know he doesn't feel good but never complains. what show i be looking out for and what do you think will happen next. i can't believe it has been this many months and nothing has happened yet.

Dear impossible. Your husband is hurrying his course to an early death and severe diabetes complications prior to that time. I would encourage you to work with a physician and try to get him to see a mental health therapist who has worked with people who have a chronic illness. His blood sugars are very high. We send people to the emergency room when they have sugars over 600. (type 2). He is probably making some insulin but not too much. He is hungry and thirsty because he is eating but the calories are not getting released in his body's cells. Instead the carbohdyrate calories are in the elevated glucose in the blood stream and stored in muscles and the liver. The body tries to dilute the concentrated sugar in the blood by turning on the thirst drive. Then the kidneys try to pee off the extra fluid in the blood. The eye chart is probably to detect changes in the eyes. If the grids don't seem lined up, this is a sign the doctors use to diagnose certain eye diseases. Anyway, the bottom line is that your husband needs to get back on his medications so you will soon be without him.

Sorry to hear your husband is Mr Mocho thinks he wond die or get damage. Well it will happen and I am afraid to say count on it. I ran very high bs but did not know it 25 yrs ago when dx I was close to 500. I took a few years to get me down below 300 the knew nothing about carbs then hard to believe. It took 20 yrs for my mom to go blind that was before meters so I am sure damage is occuring. I am truly sorry he is playing Russion Roulette. The reason he is losing weight is he isnt getting supplied food the glucose is to high, the body is eating the stored fat and muscle I have been there done that.
