Hello,

Thanks for brining your question to dLife.

Gestational diabetes may occur around the beginning of the third trimester of pregnancy. Moms who experienced gestational diabetes are at a higher risk for developing diabetes within the next 10 years or so.

Women with diabetes who are interested in achieving a healthy pregnancy are encouraged to achieve good blood glucose (sugar) control first. Metformin is a medicine that some doctors may use with their patients with diabetes during pregnancy. Other doctors recommend different diabetes management programs.

Since each person has different medical concerns, it is always best to check with your doctor. He or she can review your treatment plan and provide you with the best options for maintaining a healthy pregnancy.

Take care.
