Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

There are many causes of weight gain. Gestational diabetes is a warning sign. Without lifestyle changes (diet and exercise) to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight, diabetes is most likely to occur in the near future. Weight controlled with meal plan and regular exercise can delay the onset of diabetes.

How to get the extra weight off? I recommend that you talk with a registered dietitian about establishing a personal meal and exercise plan. He or she can help you include some of your favorite foods, learn how to read food labels, and modify your family recipes to better control your blood glucose (sugar).

A regular exercise program will help with weight control and improve blood glucose level. It will also help with appetitie control and reduce stress. Yes, it is great for relieving stress. You will also gain some strength, endurance, and the stamina to keep up with an active 3-year old..

Take care.
