"I was diagnosed type 2 4 mos.ago, now 40 lbs of wt.loss, 30 minutes of exercise a day, 45 to 60 carbs a meal 3 x a day, I think I was misdiagnosed."

Background Info Hide
I eat meals of fruits and vegetables, with whole grains and proteins, pretty measured out to normal daily allowances of these food groups, I was prescribed 1000mg of metformin a day, and only have taken 500 a day, and my blood sugar readings are never over 125....averaging around 115. I take readings in the mornings mostly, before breakfast. I truly think I'm misdiagnosed, but not sure how to move forward.

Dear dereks, I know it seems had to accept the diagnosis of diabetes, but I do think it is the correct diagnosis. At the time you were diagnosed, your fasting blood sugars most likely were over 126, indicative of diabetes. Now, taking metformin, eating in a healthy manner which limits your carbohdyrates, and exercising, your blood sugars are better. They are not perfectly normal, however, if you have readings over 100. Losing weight was probably one of the best things you could do to help yourself. Your next goal is to get off the metformin and be able to maintain good blood sugars by diet and activity alone. Keep up the good work. You are really making some great changes. However, you do have type 2 diabetes.

Its hard to accept the fact were diabetic, yup thats for sure. Think of it this way you lost 40lbs just what your body needed. Your eating healthy and your exercising the way you should. All those things have helped you control your bs, they arent perfect but there good. What you have done is great keep up the great work, also think of it if I stopped doing those things my readings would go right back up and I have seen some that stopped and ended up getting readings in the 300 cause they thought they were better.
