Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Your list includes 5 different classifications of oral diabetes medicines. Each one addresses a different defect.

Byetta (Exenitide) has multiple actions, such as decreasing insulin resistance and increasing insulin secretion. Each person's response to medication varies.

You did not mention how long you have been taking Byetta. For some people, it may take 14 days, a month, or even longer before imrpovement in blood glucose (sugar) is realized.

If you are strictly following your meal plan and exercising regularly, then continue with your treatment plan. Sometimes the delay in response may be due to severe obesity or not sticking to a meal and exercise plan.

After a month or so...and you do not notice any reduction in blood glucose, talk to your doctor or diabetes educator. He or she can evaluate your treatment plan and make the necessary adjustments.

Take care.
