"What causes me to be lightheaded & nauseous during and after eating?"
Asked By: atseal

Background Info Hide
A few weeks ago I started getting woozy headed and a little nauseous after I start eating and then I get a tired feeling and these symptoms would last from 30 to 60 minutes after I eat. I went to my Dr and she decided to do a glucose tolerance test and these are the results. This is a 2 hours with 75g drink: glucose fasting 101 glucose 30 minutes 188 glucose 1 hour 106 L glucose 2 hour 116 with my symptoms and this test alone she said I was hypoglycemia I have researched and I don't fit the profile! What is your advice for me to do next? I am still having these symptoms. She said I need to eat 6 small meals a day. But that means I will get sick 6 times instead of 3 times. Hypoglycemics eat to not get sick and I am eating and then getting sick. It just does not make sense. Please advise in any way. Thanks for your time.

This seems a little odd as hypoglycemia symptoms occur usually before you eat. This situation may require more frequent blood testing at home so a log and a pattern can be determined. When you digest food blood goes to the stomach and away from other areas of the body. Have you taken your BP during these dizzy spells? I would also check that out, and if BP is low, check with your doctor to ascess the situation. Good luck!
