"I heard that taking the drug Cozaar helps prevent kidney problems and could be taken even if you have no problems -is this true?"

Thanks for writing dLife. Yes it is true that this medication, as with some other medications used for blood pressure control, can also significantly reduce the risk of diabetic kidney disease. That is why many physicians are prescribing such medications for their patients with diabetes, since diabetes is in itself a stress on the kidneys. For the best explanation, discuss this with your physician on how this may apply to your, and remember that other factors also influence kidney disease risk such as proper diet and blood glucose control.
