Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Exercise is very beneficial for people with diabetes who experienced a stroke. Most of our patients find water aerobics to be particularly helpful for increasing their range of motion and normalizing their blood glucose (sugar) levels. And no actual swimming required!

I recommend that your check with your local YWCA or YMCA for water aerobics classes. Some colleges and university also have community programs in water aerobics. The instructors will teach you how to work your muscles to promote balance and flexibility safely. It may also help improve your blood glucose levels! Double benefits!

Take care.

I am nicknamed "Lurch" with my back problems and I hate getting into a swimming pool, so I use a recumbent stationary bike, which provides lots of support. I have also used a recumbent stationary stepper at physical therapy. Good luck.

you might want to buy a Nintindo WII. The fitness disk has all kinds of games that you can play from sitting on a chair, upper body movements like boxing, tennis etc. It also has games that can help improve your balance. Don
