Dear blondwyn,

You should discuss with your healthcare provider which medication may be best for you. There are oral medications that increase your insulin production glipizide, glimperimide, or glyburide of these there is a combination of glyburide with metformin – Glucovance and a combinaton of metformin with glipizide – Metaglip. Other oral medications may improve your blood glucose control by focusing on your insulin resistance – Actos and Avandia. Actos and metformin also come in a combination pill Actoplus Met.. Another option may be the addition of Januvia which targets blood glucose levels after lunch. This comes in a combination pill with metformin – Janumet. Depending on your specific need your health care provider may be able to prescribe one of these combinations so you won’t be charged for 2 medications but only one. These would probably be options your health care provider may chose before starting either insulin or Byetta.

The giipizide and gluburide are $10 for a 2 month supply at walmart and target. They work well for many its worth a shot, tell your doctor your financial situation.
