There are 1000 units of Lantus in a vial. If you take 70 units per day then your vial will last about 14 days. So, for a 90 day supply you should receive 7 vials. (Actual calculation is 6.3 vials, so you will need more than 6) If you have a question about the quantity you receive I would call the pharmacy. Sometimes your dose is increased by your provider, but that dose change does not get sent to the pharmacy so they do not realize you are on a higher dose. In addition, insurance may have restrictions on how much they will reimburse, so you may have some out of pocket expenses. I would also call my insurance company and ask them what your benefit should be. Since diabetes is a disease that changes, you may end up on a higher Lantus dose in the future. Always confirm with your pharmacy that they have your most recent dose changes on file.
