Hi monkeyg. I'm afraid that using insulin for any reason other than regulating blood glucose would be a very dangerous practice. Insulin is intended for use only for people whose own insulin production can not meet demands. Too much insulin in the blood stream can lead to very low blood sugar which can cause seizures, coma, and death. I do not know where you heard that injecting insulin would help with weight loss. However, the opposite actually is true. The DLife website has a lot of really wonderful information on healthy eating and exercise. Please do not engage in any dangerous practices to lose weight. Making appropriate lifestyle changes by eating smaller portions, including more nutritious foods such as vegetables, and exercising regularly is the best formula for weight loss. If you still need help, a registered dietitian in your area could help you with your menu planning.

Taking insulin without needing it would be very dangerous. In fact taking insulin puts weight on so I dont know where this idea is coming from.
