Hi and thanks for writing dLife. It sounds like you are doing a terrific job with your nutrition and fitness regimen. You are correct in being concerned about your feet, as in a high impact exercise such as running, your feet are prone to irritation and injury. First, have your feet checked regularly by your physician and if needed a podiatrist, but more importantly, check your feet yourself thoroughly every day especially after a run. Use a mirror and magnifying glass if needed or ask your significant other to help look for signs of blisters, redness or other skin irritation. Make sure that you have very good quality shoes for exercising and have them fitted by a well trained shoe professional. Customized orthotic inserts are also sometimes prescribed by a podiatrist to help protect the feet. Report any signs of numbness, tingling or other symptoms in your feet or legs to your physician promptly and if running is contraindicated, there are other very good alternatives for aerobic exercise that can be incorporated into your fitness routine. Advice from a well qualified personal trainer or physical therapist can be helpful. Keep up the great work!
