Low energy is a common problem not only for patients with diabetes, but for a lot of the population in general. There are many potential causes. I would suggest a good multivitamin without iron unless he is found to be anemic. I would say he probably was tested for iron deficiency, but check to make sure. You should also check thyroid function and vitamin D levels, as many people today are very low on vitamin D. Amitriptyline causes drowsiness that may linger on until the next day. Check with your health care team for a possible solution. Good luck!!
