Background Info Hide
We live in Phoenix AZ where the temp get as high as 110 to 115 degrees outside. I am concern as he works outside. His A1c tests have come back 12.5 which is an ongoing issue for him. He refuses to understand that with his blood glucose levels continually high eventually it will have a toll on his body/organs. He doesn't test his glucose or count crabs at all. I do my best in preparing his meals but I cannot be with him 24/7. The thing I notice with him if he is hungry he'll eat and eat. He says he knows what he is suppose to do but doesn't want to do it though he does take his insulin in the morning. He has also been diagnosed with RA, mild emphysema and Diabetic neuropathy as well. He quit smoking and drinking 2yrs ago. Now he putters in the yard and after work but recently he has started sweating profusely, becomes exhausted, dizzy, and has intense body pains. One time my son and I had to go get him he was so bad. Is he on the verge of having a heat stroke?

Dear jusjokin1, Thank you for your question. Your husband is a very ill man. He needs to get in to see his doctor right now. Do not delay making this appointment. From the symptoms you cite, he may be having heart failure and needs to be evaluated. With an A1c of over 12, no matter how much he eats, he is not being able to use the carbohdyrates he is eating because he lacks insulin. He needs to be given a thorough check-up and medication adjustment. He needs to take his disease seriously and start taking care of himself, or don't expect to have him around much longer.
