Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Janumet is a combination prescription oral medicine.for managing type 2 diabetes. It is used to improve glycemic control: promote insulin release, suppress hepatic glucose production, and reduce insulin resistance.

Taking an additional metformin 1000 mg to the Janumet 50/1000 twice a day would definitely exceed the maximum recommended dose of 2550 mg/day to be given in three divided doses. Extra metformin beyond the maximum dosage may be potentially harmful.

Talk with your doctor immediately. You need clarification about taking the additional metformin.

Take care.
