"Your site lists Oatrim as a fat replacer. I used to use it in baking and it works well. Where can I find it to buy?"
Asked By: cfkienle

Background Info Hide
Used this product in baking for 2 years and it helped lower my cholesterol by 30 pts. Would like to use but not able to find it since early 2008. Online stores (Bobs Red mill, King Arthur, Hogdkins Mill, Amazon) no longer have it.

Hello,

Thanks for bringing your question to dLife.

Quaker Oats used to sell Oatrim, but they have discontinued it.

Z Trim is another fat replacement that bakers frequently use to reduce the fat in baked products. They have oat, corn and tapioca variations.

I just dscovered that they are not currently promoting the sale of Z Trim to the general public. Manufacturer "encourages consumers to ask for it in their favorite foods, for better nutritional profiles with no sacrifice in taste. Click here to read about Z Trim!

Other healthy fat-free alternatives in baked goods include unsweetened applesauce and pureed fruit. Some bakers like to use various baby fruits. These products tend to be moist. Be sure to count the addtional carbohydrates in the modified recipe.

Enjoy!

A product that is currently on the market selling direct to the consumer is Nutrim (Oat Beta Glucan Supplement). This may be a useful alternative to Oatrim and Ztrim.
