Thanks for writing dLife. As with any medication or treatment, check with your physician for advice that is right for you regarding immunizations. However, those with diabetes generally are advised to get flu shots each year as well as a pneumonia shot as directed (usually every 10 years) because illness not only can cause many problems with blood sugar control, the chances of complications from illness, such as secondary infections (like pneumonia) and dehydration are greater. I strongly urge you to discuss this with your doctor and if this is recommended, as I suspect it will be, follow the advice since influenza of any type can lead to serious health complications.
