Hello Maroun1969; Great job with the activity schedule, just the right prescription.

You inquire of testing and diagnosis of diabetes mellitus criteria. The literature suggest that the diagnosis of pre-diabetes is evidenced by abnormal glucose levels of fasting plasma glucose>100mg/dl and <126mg/dl (at which point higher levels transition to 'impaired fasting glucose), and/or an OGTT 2 hours after glucose intake of greater than or equal to 140mg/dl but, less than 200mg/dl. The term 'Pre' suggest you are at increased risk of a full blown diagnosis. Recent literature has suggested that the A1c can be used as a tool for diagnosis. The A1c has been used to evaluate the glucose control over the preceding 2-4 months. (Getting this done may clarify more). Current A1c recommendations by the ADA is <7%, (4-6% is a normal reading).

Some additional health risks indicators: (for what they are classifying as 'metabolic syndrome'), come from abdominal obesity: a waist circumference of >40" for men or >35" for women.

Your personal plan of daily activity is the right course of action, recent suggestion are >150 minutes per week!!! Stastics suggest there are an estimated 5.2 million people in the US having "undiagnosed"diabetes.

Just as you are doing, daily activity will help with your 'own' insulin sensitivity, exercise/activity has a whole wealth of benefits: weight loss being one of the most obvious!! I might also suggest a conversation with an registered dietitian as to compliment your activity efforts. Adequate nutrients, vitamins, minerals and fluid as to continue to be your BEST!! Thanks for asking dLife call on us as needed. Regards Sue for YOU!
