The American Diabetes Association has a list of programs that can help with insurance issues. The national number is 1-800-342-2383. You can also go to The Foundation for Health Coverage Education to discuss your options. Their phone number is 1-800-234-1317, or go to www.coverageforall.org on the web. Many states have an "high risk" health insurance plan that usually gives good coverage. Check with your state insurance department to find out how to apply. Many other companies also offer limited coverage plans. Some are guarantee issue and others are not. There may be waiting periods involved with any of these plans (incl the state plans) before coverage begins.
