"I've been asked to volunteer for a research study called "Autologous dendritic cell therapy for Type 1 diabetes suppression: A Safety Study." "
Asked By: jan barum
Category: Type 1

Background Info Hide
Frankly, I want to do it, but I'm scared. I've been Type 1 for 44 years with no complications. Do you know anything about this research? Any advice?

I have heard about the study, and was under the impression it was for patients who still had some islet cell function left. The object seems to be to suppress the immune response that your body wages against its' own islet cells in Type 1 diabetes. Since you have had diabetes for a number of years, I'm not sure how effective this treatment may be. Check with the study centers to acess this further.
