i am a diavbitic since 1996. from 3 yrs using insulin.since one year taking pure vegetarian food.no alchohal drinking.doing 40 mts morning walk and 90 mts yoga in morning. taking 1 litre water in the early morning with empty stomach and 2 litres water in the day time. taking cucumber daily at 9 am. taking fruits at 6pm. i am furnishing blood reports 23july09 11july09 10feb09 11oct08 cho total 107 95 125 147 cho HDL 35 26 34 37 cho LDL 65 53 67 80 triglycerids 113 82 162 146 cho vldl 23 16 32 29 cho/hdl ratio 3.1 3.6 3.6 3.9 ldl/hdl ratio 1.8 1.9 1.9 2.1 t3=1.42 t4=13.87,tsh=3.72 on23july09

Increasing HDL cholesterol can be a challenge. Here are five basic tips that can help:

  • Don't smoke smoking lowers HDL
  • Reduce body weight (if your overweight). For every 2 lbs lost your HDL can increase 0.35 mg/dl
  • Be more physically active aerobic activity can help to boost HDL
  • Eat more fish and nuts they have omega-3 fats which can improve your LDL to HDL ratio.
