Most of my patients who are on Byetta carry it in their purses when travelling. They put it and the needles they will need in a smaller purse or a ziploc baggie. When on an airplane, keep Byetta on your person and not in your checked luggage. It remains stable as long as the surrounding temperature is above freezing and not over 77degrees F. Do not store Byetta with the needles on and keep it dry. As for your swimming question, you need to check with the surgeon/doctor who removed the stent. I hope you enjoy your vacation! With a little advanced planning you can go anywhere or do anything!

I traveled to Las Vegas on last week and I kept my Byetta in my case that I received free from Byetta.com, I flew to Las Vegas, so therefore I placed it in my purse. I have traveled by car for up to 7 hours and I simply froze a couple of bottles of water and placed my Byetta in a thermal bag with the frozen water bottles.

Not to worry. I live in Yuma, AZ, and I've found a great way to handle it. I have a toothbruth holder that I stick the Byetta cartridge and a needle in. I got an insulated lunch bag (on sale, of course) and put the Byetta in its "case" and a blue-ice in it, and don't worry about it. If I'm going to be inside for any length of time -- visiting someone, going to the library, etc., I take the bag in with me. If I'm only going to be out of the car for a few minutes, I leave it in the car (sun reflector in place, windows open a crack), and it's worked out fine. If I'm going to an outdoor activity -- picnic, for instance -- I just put it in the cooler. Actually, this is a bit of overkill. The old advice on Byetta was to keep it cool, but they've ammended their directions, saying it can be kept at room temperature.

Correct me if I am wrong but all info I have read on byetta stated it needed refrigeration or cool pack at all times except when injecting. This is all news to me, have they changed there recomendation on it.
