Background Info Hide
I am a 53 year old woman who was diagnosed in April of this year with type 2 diabetes. Sometimes I have blurred vision, but most of the time my eyes just burn. I am currently taking glyburide and Metformin. Could this be the cause?

Blurry vision is often a symptom of elevated blood sugars. You did not mention what your blood sugars are - but being newly diagnosed you may still be working on improved blood sugar control. When you are consistently in a target range, the blurry vision should resolve. If it doesn't - you will need an eye exam. It is not a good idea to get glasses or change your prescription if you have glasses until your blood sugars more stable. The burning could be allergy related. It could also be related to "dry eye" - a common condition for many with diabetes. Artificial tears often relieve the symptoms. Please discuss both issues with your health care provider. It is not usual for glyburide or metformin to be the cause of these symptoms.
