The Question

Thank you for writing dLIfe.
There is no universal "right" or "safe" amount of carbs. Every person's situation is different. Because you have gestational diabetes it's crucial to find the right carbohydrate intake for you.
To ensure the safety of you and your baby I strongly suggest you work with a registered dietitian(RD) and/or certified diabetes educator to come up with a plan that fits your individual needs. The RD will determine your carbohydrate allowance based on the total number of calories you need to prevent weight loss.
You can ask your doctor to refer you to an RD in your area or just click here to use the dLIfe diabetes professional locator and schedule an appointment today.
Good Luck!
