If your morning blood sugars are too high or too low an adjustment to your evening insulin dose may be needed.
It is important for you to check your blood sugar a minimum of 2 times per day (before your morning insulin dose and before your evening insulin dose).
However, you may want to check more often (such as before and after meals) to identify which foods trigger your high blood sugars.
To prevent high blood sugars it is important for you to adhere to portion size. Look at food labels and measure your foods when possible.
Follow the plate method... take a 9inch or smaller plate and make half of it veggies, 1/4 of your plate starch and 1/4 protein (lean meat, chicken or fish).
I always tell my patients start your meal with veggies first then eat the protein, and finish with the starch.
