Dear medifruit,

It is difficult to find inexpensive health insurance when you have diabetes. One place I would suggest contacting is your state insurance commission to determine what is available in your area. The phone number for the state insurance commission can be found in your phone book under your state. You may also want to contact the local health department and determine if you qualify for any services. These are decided by income so you may not be eligible. If you belong to any organizations that may provide group coverage such as AARP or a professional organization you may be able to obtain insurance at a much lower price than purchasing individual coverage. The American Diabetes Association also has some information on insurance on their web site, I have provided the link below. Best of luck

Some companies are now coming out with specified (read as "limited) benefit plans that are much less expensive than traditional health insurance. Some of these plans are guaranteed issue and other are not. Most of them have waiting periods before coverage begins.
