"Is there a type of product that would help an 11 yr old keep track of her blood sugar?"
Asked By: heidig

Background Info Hide
My niece is 11 yrs old, still trying to get use to testing her blood sugar. She was just diagnosed with type 1 less than a year ago and has been in the hospital at least 2 times since than that we know of. This last time she was kept over night was after she spent the week with her grandma. I can tell it bothered her grandma, thinking it was her fault. As a piece of mind I think something that would remind my niece to test her sugar levels would help her mom for when the girl goes to visit others.

I would try to use a device that has the capability of alarming or texting her that she is familiar with. A cell phone!! These new phones can almost walk and talk, but most of all children of this age group can relate to them. As a mother of two sons with diabetes, I had to learn to be creative at times to increase compliance!! Good luck.
