Thanks for writing dLife. Your question is very good and yes it is true- infection or other stresses on the body, such as chronic pain, surgery or illness, can increase blood glucose levels which in turn can make healing and recovery even more complicated and slower. If you are dealing with infections that don't clear up and notice that your blood sugar levels are higher than they should be, consult with your physician as soon as possible for the appropriate medical advice on how to improve your diabetes control as well as the infection.

Most definitely. Many moons ago when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (even before there were glucometers to check blood sugar levels), that was part of my symptoms. I continued to have them until I stopped taking the birth control pill and got my blood sugar levels under control. I was told that the birth control pill was a major cause of yeast infections in diabetics. I then started using an iud and my yeast infection cleared up with some medications.

In my experience, high blood sugars can be the cause of a yeast infection. High blood sugars cause a change in pH of the blood. This can cause an ideal environment for the bacteria that is causing the infection to live in. Have you checked your ketone levels. You should call your Dr, and get help controlling the high bs levels.
