Background Info Hide
07-2-09. I would like to know if I'am a Pre-Diabetic with a A1c result of 5.0 and I'm eliminating a kidney protein no, blood in the urine and a white count cells 6-8 (with range of 0-8) and my red count cells 0-1 (with a range of 0-3) I do know it means and infection. If I'am Pre-Diabetic what is your suggestion for a course of action in my case. Thank You, Dinar_Lilly

Your A1C is in the normal range. The A1C is being discussed as tool for diagnosing diabetes, but not currently an acceptable measurement to do so. Prediabetes is a fasting blood sugar of 100-125 and/or a blood sugar before or 2 hours after a meal of 141-199. I would recommend both times be checked by your physician. If your blood sugars are normal, but you have a family history, have them checked at regular intervals by your physician. Daily activity and losing weight if over weight are also needed behaviors to prevent diabetes and prediabetes. Stay proactive in your health care - don't wait for problems to seek care!
