"I think I am developing some type of nerve damage and I think it is related to my diabetes and a medication called seroquel. "
I have been diabetic for 3 years and failed on oral medications within 2 years and am on oral meds and insulin. I am also bi-ipolar, have high blood pressure, and depressed. I have attempted suicide many times with the last attempt the worst.. I spent 6 days in icu. My blood sugar has been uncontrollable since November 2008.
I take a medication called seroquel which I know interferes with my blood sugar control.. Without my doctor's consent, I cut my seroquel in half and my blood sugar came under control, however, I started having restless leg syndrome episodes every night, some so severe I take 6 mg of clonazepam to no avail. It spreads to my upper extremities and groin. I have been falling , just losing my balance and now have to use a cane. I have a lot of diarreah and have been experiencing dizziness. My doctor said to go back to the regular dose of seroquel because control of my mental health is most important. Do you have any suggestions for alternate meds or care?
