Hi Susan, thanks for writing dLife. Your concern is very justified as kidney function can have several signs and symptoms that are sometimes vague. However with your medical and family history along with medications you may be taking, it would be very wise to find out more about the health of your kidneys. Be sure to see a physician as soon as you can and report these symptoms. Blood tests are also a very important part of diagnosing and monitoring kidney disease so be sure to ask your doctor about what your test results show.

Hello Susan dinar_lilly; Am I correct in your question, you have ' Hypoglycemic' episodes?? How have these been identified?? Excess fluid intake could be a result of a medications, a high intake of sodium or due to some of the other diagnoses you mention or as we age, saliva production is reduced. If it is a hypoglycemia reaction, and related to a diagnosis of diabetes, your physician who has diagnosed the 'Graves' disease can also investigate the potential for diabetes. The high blood pressure(hypertension), Cardia-carditis(heart inflammation) and the mention of protein and the kidney, all are conditions requiring appropriate medical interventions. I would strongly suggest you talk to your (P)personal (C)care (P)physician/Cardiologist about the questions your raise, make that appointment. The excess fluid intake can tax the heart in excess. High blood pressure will also adversely impact the heart. In the meantime as for dietary self-management, I would encourage you to limit sodium to 2,000mg sodium per day, eat via the food pyramid recommendations, (fruits and veggies 4-7 per day, low fat dairy 2-3 per day, 4-5 oz lean proteins per day), 3 main small meals per day and a couple very-small snacks throughout the day. If you do have a pre-diabetes condition or have reactive hypoglycemia due to skipping meals, would also necessitate a referral for further clarifications. I would contact my local hospital's diabetes education program. Certified diabetes educators, RN, RD, Rph and other program disciplines can assist. Hope this help with continued self-medical management. Thanks for asking dLife. Regards Sue for YOU!
