You can stop HRT without weaning off, but if you don't wean off slowly you may experience some side effects like headaches or mood swings just because hormone levels are changing. If you switch to the vaginal cream right away, then you can probably stop oral therapy right away. The risk of side effects is lower with the vaginal product because there is less systemic absorption. As always, follow your doctor's advice on how to switch from oral to vaginal therapy.
