Dear Lisa81; Side effects for Actos® include: possible headache, potential hypoglycemia, slight muscle aches, increased risk for respiratory tract infection, potential sinus inflammation, development of a sore throat, swelling, or development of a tooth disorders. Nothing regarding "red spots". Your profile indicates you have been diagnosed for approx. 20 years. Actos(R) or technically thiazolidinediones (TZDs): Pioglitazone (Actos®). Actos® primary action: Enhances insulin sensitivity at muscle and fat cells, reduces insulin resistance; increases insulin-dependent glucose disposal in skeletal muscle. It's secondary action includes the reductions of hepatic glucose output. To get to the cause of your red spots, the dermatologist would be able to recognize quickly!! In the meantime, if this seems acute, seek medical attention right away or make that needed appointment. Any potential infections will be reflected in the blood glucose levels. Keep to the ABC's: * A is for A1C, previously known as hemoglobin A1C—a test that reflects average blood glucose over the last 3 months. The goal for most people with diabetes is <7. An A1C of 7 corresponds to an average blood glucose level of 150 mg/dL. *B is for blood pressure. The goal for most people with diabetes is <130/80 mm Hg. Checking blood pressure, height, weights, *C is for cholesterol. The goal for people with diabetes is an LDL level of <100 mg/dL, an HDL level of >50mg/dl in women, and triglycerides level of <150mg/dl. Hope this help, however, not a substitute for the total MD's assessment. Good luck and keep up the good work. Thanks for asking dLife, call on us as needed. Regards Sue
