"I have neuropathy in my feet so bad. I have tried Lyrica, Cymbalta, and Neurotin and still nothing. I have to take oxy 3 times a day to just walk."

Hello T2 and experiencing long-term complications of Diabetes; Neuropathy with several medications without significant relief. Once the glucose is into your nerve cells, this excess is then converted to sugar alcohols. These alcohols build and continue to damage the nerve endings. To lessen nerve damage and prevent any additional damage; studies have suggested that neuropathic symptoms are relieved with the avoidance of extreme glucose fluctuations. This glycemic control has been identified as the primary prevention and management measure for diabetic (goals of A1C <7%, check and make sure your 2 hour after eating BS levels are <140mg/dl. Tighten up control, get back to the basics!!! Some additional precautions would include; if you smoke, (stop), consuming alcohol may make the neuropathy worse, definitely 'moderation.' Keeping the blood pressure under control,<130/85mmHg. Keep cholesterol levels under 200mg/dl. Lastly, keeping in contact with your PCP, doctor assisting with the pain management. New treatments may be available for the neuropathy. Good nutrition, activities within your abilities/safe/MD ok'd, and medications and good support may also assist with these daily challenges'. Many diabetics use alpha lopic acid 600mg a day for there neuroaptny and report good results. You can find it at the health store or many pharmacy good luck.
