Hi and thanks for writing dLife. You pose a very good question. Fatigue can be related to many different issues outside of diabetes. Sleep problems, stress, nutrition deficiencies, dehydration, medications and other medical/physical factors may be present. This is a symptom that you should definitely discuss with your physician so that he or she can fully evaluate your medical status to determine the reasons behind this change. Diabetes can definitely cause fatigue if blood sugar levels are not well controlled or if other diabetes complications exist. If you are concerned about the accuracy of your blood sugar readings, be sure to test your meter and strips as directed by the manufacturer with the correct control solution and contact the glucose meter company for questions regarding accuracy and troubleshooting- they typically are extremely helpful and have a great interest in making sure their products are working for you.
