"Should people with type 2 use Mirena?"

I was just diagnoised witIh Type 2 diabetes and and I have to take oral Meds. I had Mirena inserted in March. And I as reading my packet that said Diabetics sholdnt use mirena... Is this true????

Any hormone can cause changes in blood sugars, and Mirena does contain a hormone. It has, however been used in patients with diabetes as long as the medical team monitors blood sugars closely. Because it is an intrauterine device there is also some risk of infection, and in patients with diabetes such infections can be serious. The decision to use a given contraceptive is made by the entire health care team and options should be given to you so that you can make an informed choice.
