Dear leittt, You asked about the safety of taking a duiretic, metformin, and glucotrol together when you have polycystic kidney disease. Of the three drugs, the one that I would check with my physician about is the metformin. If your creatinine is elevated (above normal), then you shouldn't be taking metformin. Usually drugs that stimulate the pancreas to make more insulin are OK. Many of my renal patients use insulin and /or glipizide. You need to sit down with your doctor and discuss your labs. Kidney disease is complicated and I don't think anyone can really tell you what to do without complete information about your kidney disease and other labs.
