Dear Troman1Psu; Diabetes Mellitus always keeps you on your toes, impacts the entire body!! Improved vision, this is usually NOT the case. The elevated blood glucose usually cause a problem in the eye lens and impacts the vision poorly. As newly diagnosed I would encourage a complete baseline evaluation, meaning make an appointment with the Ophthalmologist-dilated eye exam, complete foot exam with a Podiatrist (DPM), mono-filament test and ETC. An Endocrinologist to orchestrate all the components of care. Complimented with blood glucose monitoring, keeping the numbers normal, lipids normal, blood pressure normal, maintain a robust activity plan(~150 minutes per week). If you smoke, you know the drill!! Be your best in 09'. Thanks for asking dLife, call on us when needed. Regards Sue for YOU!

My wife was diagnosed 4 weeks ago, got her glucose below 130 consistently and doesn't have to wear contacts and eyeglasses anymore. I think she was diabetic for a long time and we didn't know.

This has happened to me recently! Suddenly, I can see better without the glasses than with them, unexplainably! Also, my blood sugars have been the lowest they have been since my diagnosis in 2005, down from the usual "HI" which is something over 499 on my meters, to the 120's - 200's due to low carb diet and a lot of Lantus and Humalog insulins.

My eyesite got worse when I was diagnosed with diabetes T2. I went to my eye doctor and ended up having cataract surgery. I now have 20/25 vision. I strongly suggest you go to an eye doctor and have your eyes checked. There are a lot of complications that can be the results of diabeties. Good luck!
