Dear Diabeteshero; I feel your pain and frustrations!! Not to argue, there are several investigative studies that have lead to better management in only the last 10-15-20ys. The AiC has only come into being in the past 2,0 years, and not until 15 years ago did a study confirm with vengeance that tight control-stalls off long-term complication. The medications for treatment are 3-4 times what was available in this same time frame. Although, a complete "CURE", is in the infant stages of investigation. Insulin replacement can be accomplished with an insulin pump. This small devise can offer more independence however, this is not a cure. A total pancreatic transplant might eventually be an option, but, may not be an easy option. All of these investigations, studies and interpretations for daily living with this insidious disease have a financial attachment. In the meantime, to increase your potential of being a recipient's of one of these advances, I would encourage you to take care of yourself, observing all those guidelines for self-management, (believe it or not, all these some-what strict guides are substantiated). If you are encountering financial difficulties, please examine dLife's sites regarding those areas. Regarding dietary self-management, you do not need to purchase special foods, the primary impact to the blood glucose is from carbohydrates,(under most circumstances). Possibly you could take advantage of the use of generic meds, you'll need to discuss with your P(personal) C(care) P(physician). Unsure of your profile or background, I hesitate to suggest anything other than your local diabetes education programs via your county/state or hospital services. You might investigate studies in your area for possible medication, education and activity resources. In Michigan, www.diabetesinMichigan.org is a good resource site. Hope this was helpful, please call on us far any additional questions/concerns. Regards;Sue for

Go online and google 'Diebetes Cure'. An article about Dr. Mary Vernon is discussed, and Duke University study of her treatment is Proven. Metformin is a 1.1 billion dollar feeding frenzy that the ADA is paid to endorse. the meds. The last statement on ADA motives is my opinion and I hope it isnt true. You do the math. '

There is a cure. They're called stem cells. But, it's better for the Big Pharma to keep making people pay for insulin instead of insurance companies paying for stem cell transplant. There have been many clinical trials with stem cells that have been successful in "curing" Type I diabetics. And, of course, the conservative idiots in our gvm't don't want to harm a bunch of cells in a freezer. Whatever.

looks that way..they had me try Lyrica instead of a duregesic patch due to the cost, and I found the Llrica worked so much better and had so many fewer side effects..I was soo excited and then WHAM!! three months in they decided THAT too was too expensive and are refusing to pay for it now..but sent me a letter and said that seeing as the patch was so expensive they were "willing" to give me METHODONE!! WHY?? so I can sell it on the street and THEN get my Lyrica? The meth would do absolutly nothing in regard to what I was taking the Lyrica or using the patch for..I truly feel it is one big scam that has been going on for sooooo long that NO one will hold them accountable. I have lost a lot of respect for our Government and out pharm. companies over the years, shame , isnt it..
