I have spent lots of time looking up related things on the computer (TMI) Grains are good for one but not for kidney pblems....I have made charts of diabetic food and one for Kidney fods and then cross of the ones that are not compatible to both-----------sometimes it doesn't leave much tasty foods left to eat. Thanks for writing dLife. You are very correct, combining the concerns of both kidney disease and diabetes can be very confusing...and you are not the only one with this concern! And these diet restrictions that may be prescribed in themselves put you at risk of weight loss or nutrition deficiencies. The specific diet plan for you would need to consider your weight, appetite, medication schedule, as well as your food preferences and ability to shop and prepare food. Since you are on dialysis, I would highly recommend that you ask about a personal consultation with a registered dietitian/diabetes educator for specific and useful information. Your personal physicians or local hospital may also have RDs/CDEs that can see you individually to help you with this. Because diet is so critical in the care of both diabetes and kidney disease, individual attention is very important.
