"Is there a safe supplement that will help burn fat? "
Asked By: Auntiem

Background Info Hide
I have hyperglycemia and am trying to avoid full blown diabetes. Even with diet and exercise, I seem to have mostly just water loss with little or no loss of body fat. I just turned 70, and weight has been my big enemy for the past 20 years.

Dear reader. Xenical is the only FDA approved fat blocker on the market. It blocks absorption of some of the fat you eat in the gut. That way you don't get all the calories from what you eat. Some people feel their stools are more "greasy" when taking this drug. I suggest talking to your doctor about it before you decide to buy it yourself.

Thank you for writing to dLife. Before turning to supplements that promise to burn fat, (and which may be dangerous) it is important to discuss your weight struggles with your physician because there may be other issues that may need to be considered that influence your weight. You may also greatly benefit from a consultation from either a physical therapist or a highly qualified personal trainer to make sure that the exercise that you are doing, not only while working out, but during the rest of your day is helping with increasing your overall fitness levels. Also consult with a registered dietitian so that your eating habits and diet can be closely reviewed to make sure that your portions are right for you as well as your total calorie intake, Food and eating plans should closely match your needs and lifestyle. Also, ask your doctor about screening for sleep disorders, as recent scientific evidence is suggesting that this may also be a significant influence on weight management because of disruptions that a poor sleep may have on appetite and other hormones.
